Scott Manser (on the left) is a professional sign artist with experience dating back to the 1980s. Every piece he creates is personal and customised. Scott has had his work in gallery exhibitions, used in advertising and even featured on TV. Scott is a true gentleman!
Originally a Ballet Dancer from Brazil, Michell Da Silva moved to London at 21 years of age where he joined the London Studio Centre with a year’s scholarship. There he also met his now wife, so he's still here to bling up our boards thankfully!
Following a short dance career, Michell moved into teaching and still continues to do so today. Though not as often because the paintbrush now leads his professional life.
A couple of kids came along and to have more time at home Michell decided to pursue a different aspect of the art world that was up to this point a hobby... calligraphy, type design, lettering and vintage signage.
After much studying (and practice!) this then exponentially grew into a successful business now covering all aspects of Traditional Signwriting and Gilding.
From an original sketch to a final design and all the way through to the completed piece or sign, Michell helps clients take their vision from conception to masterpiece - A brush stroke at a time!
"His work is outstanding and of the highest quality. We are proud to have his work represent our brand." - James Hywel Books
In addition to professional artists, we also give art students at Falmouth University the opportunity to work with us.
This partnership with the Falmouth School of Art creates opportunities for its students to work on dedicated Norse Board projects, helping them gain experience in the industry and also adding to their portfolio.
As well as each board being numbered and signed by James, our artists also add their names to the boards. Such is the pride of our work at Norse Boards.
Every Norse Board has our name on it so we make sure every board is the best quality we can create.
The artists that we work with must be able to deliver artwork to an equally high standard.
Every design is unique and we do not want 'template' work.
While we brief our artists on the client's design, we expect them to suggest additions and ideas to make the design 'extra special'.
Our artists run their own businesses but they are not seen as just 'suppliers'.
Each one of them is a crucial part of our business and we welcome them to the 'Norse Board family'.
We are always looking for talented artists who can add a bit of magic to our boards. If you think this is you, then please get in touch.
